RR: Wonderful book.  A brand-new book, The Fear of the Lord. Discover the key to intimately knowing God and fear in terms of reverence.

J: Reverential fear.

LR: John wants me to have that book.

RR: And then, of course, Lisa’s books.  Lindsay has endorsed one of these books, Out of Control and Loving It.  And this is the Christian Bookseller’s 1996 book of the year, is that right?

L: It was one of the CBA ones.

RR: One of the CBA books of the year.

J: It’s number five in the nation this month.

RR: It is?  As well as a brand-new book, The True Measure of a Woman.  And we’re going to share about how you can get a copy of these books.  But, John, one of the things that you deal with in your book on The Bait of Satan is offenses and how to deal with unforgiveness, how to deal with bitterness.  And Jesus said if you have ought against your brother, you know, when you come to pray, go and make it right.  If you don’t forgive, then God won’t forgive you.  How does a person, how does a Christian who has offenses, they’ve been hurt, they’ve been stabbed in some way and they don’t know how to get over it and then it turns into unforgiveness, it turns into bitterness, it turns into anger, it turns into hatred, it just gets worse and worse and worse, how does a person deal with that?

J: Well, you’ve got to deal with it.  The first way a person can deal with it is to realize what they’ve been forgiven of.  A person, a Christian, let’s deal with a Christian tonight, a Christian that cannot forgive is a Christian that’s forgotten what they’ve been forgiven of.  Jesus tells us a parable in Matthew, because Peter came and said, “My brother sins against me seven times and I forgive him, is that enough?”  And Peter thought he was being magnanimous.

RR: Maybe he wanted to hit him on the eighth time.

J: Yeah, that’s what he was saying, because they lived under eye- for-eye, tooth-for-tooth.  You hit me, I hit you.  And he though Jesus was going to say, “Oh, Peter, you got it.  Blessed you are.”  But Jesus looks at him and says, “Not seven times seven, seventy times seven.”  And in Luke’s gospel He said, “In a day.” Now that’s 490 times in one day.  Now if I was to sin against you 490 times in one day, I’d have to do it once every three minutes,provided you and I don’t go to sleep.  That’s heavy duty.  And Jesus said, “Look, let me tell you a parable, Peter. Make sure you get this.  You have a servant that owes this king $4.5 billion.”  I’m going to shorten this.  That’s an unpayable debt.  What we owed God was an unpayable debt.  Jesus chose to forgive us before we ever said, “I am sorry.”  Now this is what Christians don’t understand.  I’ve heard so many believers say to me, “I’ll forgive them when they say I’m sorry.”  Well, if Jesus were to have done that with us, He never would have forgiven us from the cross.  He hung from the cross and said, “Father, forgive them, they don’t know what they’re doing.”  And He was not only speaking to them, but He was speaking to us in generations down passed.

And on the island they found an upright broken-down piano from the casino there.  And that was the only one that’s on the island. So they bring it out to this village and place it in this huge school room.  And here are 500 little Haitian kids surrounding me and I’m playing and they’re sitting there like awed, they’d never heard these sounds before.  And then when I was through they were reaching out to touch me and to hold on to me.  And my wife Cheryl was there and they were just reaching out just to and if that doesn’t do anything to you.  These are little children that are, that do not have food to be fed.  I mean, the poverty is incredible, and to be able to go down there and not just share my talent, but also be able to take a piece of bread and just hand it to them and say, “This is for you, representing the Christians of the United States of America.”

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, but you’re doing more than that, Dino. You’re getting involved in bringing medical help to the people through the hospital.  Now I understand your vision because, as you well know, that’s what our vision is, to take medical missions to the nations of the earth.  So I understand what you’re talking about.

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS You know, for years people have seen me play the piano and perform and wear all these wonderful outfits, etc., you know, and they say, that guy has got it made and he goes from one auditorium to the next, one church to the next, you know, and perform every night in spotlights and what have you. But there’s so much more to it.  You know, as Christians it’s not just an entertaining element.  We are to minister. We are called as missionaries and I am called.  I am called and I have a burden on my heart.  Glad Tidings Tabernacle, the little church I was born and raised at in New York City, that’s still there on Toidy-toid Street 33^rd , you know, in New York City.  We had a pastor that had a missions heart and I was raised with a missionary heart.

And again, not just till recently were we able to go down at the Haitian Community Hospital.  And I flew in midnight last night, took five flights to get here.  I must really love you, Richard.  And, anyway, I got here.  Cheryl and I arrived and we feel refreshed this morning with a victory in our hearts because we handed to them a check for $32,000 to complete the wing of that hospital, the radiation department.

And we praise God for that and for people who have given like this letter right here, it’s so inspiring.  God has blessed the United States of America because of people like this who have given from their hearts, that’s why God has blessed us.  And He will continue to bless us if we continue to give.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS And when you open up your heart and when you give, then the Bible says God responds to your giving.  Now He describes how He responds to your giving.  The Bible says when you give, He will open you the windows of heaven and He will pour you out a blessing where there shall not be room enough to receive it.  And He will rebuke the devourer, the devil, for your sake. (Malachi_03:10-11 ) I’ve got good news, God does not need the devourer rebuked.  You and I are the ones who need the devourer rebuked.  And whenever I face a situation, Don and Dino, where I need the devourer rebuked, the first thing I think of is that Scripture where God told me what to do.

He said, “When you give, I will open you those windows of heaven.”  Whenever I feel like my windows in heaven and I’ve got windows up there and so do you and so do you whenever I feel like my windows are shut, I realize that God didn’t shut them, I did.  And I realize if I want them open I’ve got to give.  And then when I need the devourer rebuked, I know that when I give, God’s going to do it because His Word is true.  God’s Word is true, He cannot lie.  The Bible says, “He is not a man that he should lie.” (Numbers 23:19 ) God has given us a formula and when we work with His formula, then He multiplies it back to us.  And like this person said, I want to double my giving. He said, “I want to double my giving every year.”  And I just got a letter from a man in Philadelphia who had just sown a very large seed for our medical missions project.  And he said to me, “I’ve got a problem.”  And I thought, you know, I’m ready to pray.  And he began to laugh.  And I said, “You’re laughing, but why are you laughing, you say you have a problem?”  He said, “I have a problem.  Every time I give money to you, I get money back.”  And I said, “Well, what’s the problem?”  He said, “I just gave you this large gift.”  I said, “Yes, I know.”  He said, “The Internal Revenue Service just contacted me and told me that I have a tax refund for almost three times what I gave you, unexpected.”  He said, “My problem is, when I give you money I get more money back than I know what to do with.”  I said, “Well, I can alleviate you of some of that problem.”  But you cannot outgive God.

SPKM DINO KARTSONAKIS You can’t.

RR: And I wanted to call and to share this testimony with you to let you know that the healing ministry that God called you into is still alive and well.

LR: Hallelujah!

OR: Well, no doubt I’ll run into her on one of my plane trips and we’ll get her testimony face to face.

RR: You mean you’re still traveling a little bit?

OR: I’m telling you, I’m traveling ocean to ocean, border to border, preaching 45 weekends a year, and praying for the sick all over this country and seeing miracles.  Last Sunday I saw some of the greatest miracles of my ministry.  Oh, my goodness, God is on the move.

RR: Oh, I’m so thrilled.  Dad, we’ve had so many wonderful testimonies already tonight, testimonies of healing.  I wish you’d stretch forth your hand right now where you are because I know there’s no distance in prayer.  God’s where you are, God’s where we are, and God’s where everyone is who is watching this program literally worldwide through the Internet and through all the stations that we’re on.  I’d like to as you to pray a prayer of faith tonight over people’s lives.

OR: Well, Richard, as I get ready to pray and each person who is listening who wants prayer gets ready to receive my prayer, let me briefly share with you what God has been dealing with me about.  He is letting me know that healing is coming back big time, big time.  There was a period of years when it seemed to subside somewhat.  During the height of my healing ministry, mine and that of many others, it soared throughout the world.  And now it is gathering steam.  It is roaring like a cyclone, and God is saying to me He’s going to do mighty things, even to creative miracles.

And that was a creative miracle about that child’s head, usually what was commonly called by doctors as a water head.  And I’ve prayed for thousands of them through the years and continue to do so. But now you who are ready to receive my healing prayer, in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, you receive my prayer as I am an instrument of God himself.  God is the healer, but He works through instruments.  His call is upon my life to come to you in His Son’s name by the Holy Spirit and to pray for God to heal you, to set you free, to command the devil to take his hands off God’s property you.

You foul, tormenting disease, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, come out.  You come out.  Come out. And I feel the mighty power of God flowing through me, coming toward you right now.  Open up your spirit.  Start praising God. Start thanking Him.  I am being healed.  I am being healed.  I am  being healed.  Oh, I feel that anointing upon me, Richard, as I’ve felt so many thousands of times during these 50 years.  And as I feel in this hour of healing that you and Lindsay are embarking on in Jesus’ name.  So, my friend, lift up your heart. Lift up your hands and give God praise.  Healing is moving in you now.  Amen and amen.

Somebody said to me, Lindsay and Cheryl, “Why a nightly healing program?”  Let me tell you why.  Because people need to have the healing touch of Jesus in their life.  People are looking for the supernatural everywhere, Bob.  They’re looking for the supernatural, and they don’t know where to find it. They’re going through all types of shenanigans to get it

But the reason a person cannot forgive is because they’ve forgotten what they’ve been forgiven of.  We deserve now let me tell you what you and I deserve, every one of us we deserved hell.  When Adam sinned against God, the Father could have looked at the Son and said, “They disobeyed us.  They chose the devil.  Let them all ago to hell.  We’re going to go over and create another universe and create somebody that really loves us.”  But God chose when we didn’t deserve it, to send His Son. And Jesus left glory and came, and He died on the cross for us when we did not deserve it. Now a Christian that does not realize what he’s been forgiven of as a Christian doesn’t have a revelation of hell.  I wish every believer could see hell for 30 seconds.

Peter, you’ve been  SU02 involved in a tremendous ministry in the African nation of Mozambique. And I particularly want to talk to you about that because when I was in Africa this past year, you and I met for the first time.  You began to share with me your vision for Mozambique.  Now if you will recall, I shared this story with you and I want to share it with the people, that before the president of Mozambique was killed in a plane crash, I suppose a little more than a year ago, is that about right?  Before he was killed in a tragic air crash, the Oral Roberts Ministry and his government had negotiated an arrangement for medical teams to come in. And then somehow after he was killed the negotiations broke down.  And then I met you when I was in Africa and you began to share with me your vision for Mozambique.  Can you bring us up-to-date on what your ministry has done and is doing in Mozambique?

SPKM PETER PRETORIUS Yes, certainly.  You know, we got involved in Mozambique in 1983. We’d heard what was going on in the country.  The famine was then three years it had been going, and it really culminated at the end of 1983, the first three months of 1984.  300,000 people died in the space of about four months. And really it was just the most catastrophic tragic type of situation.  And we got into the country about three months before that time.  We started going to the different distribution camps and the first thing that we did was to bring in food.  I went back home.  I took what money we had.  I phoned other churches, and within two weeks we were back on the road with 60 tons of food.  And that’s how we began.  We just knew that Jesus wanted us to reach the immediate needs of these people.

But that just opened for us the most incredible doors for the gospel. I mean, you must realize this is a Marxist country.  You know, the actual law of the country is you are not permitted to preach the gospel publicly.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Yeah, Mozambique was a nation that was formerly under the control of the Portuguese.  And then when it gained its independence years ago, it became a Marxist Communist nation and that’s where it stands right now.  Very difficult to get into Mozambique to begin with.

SPKM PETER PRETORIUS It is.  And, you know, they tolerate the church.  They allow some measure of freedom within the church but nothing outside of the church.  When we started to come in we said we would be prepared to try and help and feed the nation, but we want to feed them spiritually as well as physically.  And they gave us permission to preach and to hand out material whenever we did a food distribution.  That led to our first–

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS In other words, the food was the ticket that allowed you (That’s right.) to preach.  You had to have a door opener.

SPKM PETER PRETORIUS That is correct, and that’s what I want to come to just now.  You know, I have something on my heart that I really want to say to you this morning.  And I want the people who are watching us today to understand the situation, how Africa is so ripe for the gospel and how certain things open the way today, whether a country is Marxist or whether it’s not Marxist. So we had our first citywide crusade in Mapuda(sp) at the end of 1984.  It was the most incredible crusade. We had asked them for the stadium.  They said, “You know, you never get people like that, only for a political meeting.”  So they wanted us to do it in a little church.  We finally persuaded them to give us an old big hangar building near the airport.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, if you could see the service from my vantage point, from the platform, if you could see the thousands and thousands and thousands of people inside the church and then the buildings next to the church where there are maybe 40 or 50 rooms absolutely jammed to capacity with people, with television monitors where they could see the service and then outside on the street in the darkness where people were listening to the service.  And the service was to begin at seven o’clock, but Dr. Chaw who was standing just off camera here said to me that they had to close all of the doors by 4 p.m.–is that right, Dr. Chaw?–4 p.m. all of the doors were closed because of the size of the crowd.  And perhaps there will be a day that God will lead when we can come and have a great crusade in the stadium.

SPKM PAUL YONGGI CHO I hope so.  When God’s Holy Spirit lead us, we’ll plan that.

SPKM PAUL YONGGI CHO Well, I have a great burden to win 10 million Japanese to Jesus Christ.  God has given me this mission to fulfill.  And actually I wanted to get Dr. Oral Roberts involved in my Japan ministry and

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS He did come over last year.

SPKM PAUL YONGGI CHO Last year we had a great meeting.  But he feels that he’s too old and he told me he would like to give burden to you.  So I think I’ve got to work with his son instead of the father.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, Jesus said, “If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father.”

SPKM PAUL YONGGI CHO And also I know that God is using you.  In the States I was watching your program many times in my hotel room, even before I met you, and I prayed for you and I was so glad that God has raised you up and anoint you because you are son of minister.  I myself as a son and it’s a miracle that God usually takes the son of minister to be used for the glory of God because they are disgusted and discouraged as a family of the ministers because they are, have many difficulties as a child of ministers.

But when I saw that you are dedicated and God raised you up, anointed you to use, I was greatly moved in my heart. And also I knew that God was going to use you in spite of all your past failure or something like that because God forgives and God forgets.  So since God made you an anointed servant of God, who am I to judge you?  And I just felt that I’ve got to cooperate with you to bring this gospel of Jesus Christ to the end of the world because you are the anointed servant of the Lord right now.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, I thank you for that, Dr. Cho.  I want you to know something from my heart, when I heard that this church began with five people and now has half a million members, I understand that you have nine services on Sundays, is that right?

SPKM PAUL YONGGI CHO Yes, yes, God has been very good to us.  And for these 30 years I myself personally have made a lot of mistakes in my ministry, but God has helped me so far.  And I’m not doing silly things in my age. I invite any minister, I become very careful because I’m exposing half a million people through that person’s ministry.  So if I ever feel a personal evangelist is not anointed, I will never invite you.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, when I came into the service last night and when I heard the people singing in the Spirit and praying, it literally not only seemed to shake the rafters of the church, but it shook the rafters of my heart.  And I felt such an anointing of the Spirit.  And the people received me.  They received the message that I had.  And I’m so deeply touched to be here in your great nation, for I really believe that it’s no accident that God called me.  And I believe He called you and me to be together.  And I want you to know that I am sincerely grateful.

SPKM PAUL YONGGI CHO Well you were tremendously anointed last evening and tonight, and I was very delighted to interpret for you.  Usually I don’t interpret, do you know that?

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Yes, I understand.

SPKM PAUL YONGGI CHO I interpreted for Dr. Billy Graham, Dr. Oral Roberts and Schuller.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Let me just put you on the spot, why did you interpret for me?

SPKM PAUL YONGGI CHO You’re a young man.  I can’t synchronize with you.  You are too powerful and strong and I am slow and I’m tired.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS No, you’re not slow and you’re not tired either and you’re not old.

SPKM PAUL YONGGI CHO But it was great and a delight for me to work together and you have done a great thing for my church.  Our Christians have been so blessed, rejuvenated and their visions and dreams have been enlarged and Christ become very near to them.  So I’m very happy as a pastor of this church for your coming.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Well, what you’re saying to me, Johnny, is a message to this nation and the world.  It’s a message to you, my friend, that you are special to God.  There is nobody, no one, that is like you.  You are unique, you are irreplaceable. Without you the world wouldn’t be the same. God has a need for you.  You have a need for God. You and God, you need each other. You say, “Well, I’ve heard you talk about him but how can I know him?”  I’m so glad you asked.  It’s so easy for you to get to know Jesus.  Everybody here in our studio audience, join hands together and let me pray for you for you are just a prayer away from receiving Christ as your personal Lord and Savior.  You are just a prayer away from the Man, Jesus Christ, that Johnny Johnson has been talking about from entering into your heart and into your life and for you to be transformed from your hair to your toenails.   Father, I thank you that as I pray this prayer I believe you hear my prayer.  Now, my friend, I pray for you right now.

I’m going to ask everybody here in our studio and I’m going to ask you at home to pray this prayer out loud after me if you really want to meet this Man, Jesus Christ, that Johnny has been talking about.  You pray this prayer out loud after me as everybody does.  O Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner, a backslider.  I’ve turned my back on you, God.  I recognize I’m wrong.  I renounce the devil and all of his works.  I take Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.  I speak his name with my lips for he went to the cross for me.  He rose from the dead for me. He ascended to heaven for me.  He sent the Holy Spirit for me.  God, I ask you to forgive me now.  I repent.  I change my mind.  I take Christ into my heart and I receive your forgiveness.  And now that I have your forgiveness, I’m going to forgive others.  I forgive them now.  I forgive those who persecuted me.  I forgive those who have been my enemies.  I do not lay it to their charge. I freely forgive them.  God, I ask you to forgive them.  Lord, right now I’m going to start over again.

Jesus Christ is in my heart.  His spirit has just entered me.  I am a new person.  I’ll never be the same again.  O friend, if you meant that prayer from your heart, and I believe you did, you will never, ever, ever be the same again.  Jesus Christ has cleansed you.  All that old stuff inside is gone.  You are forgiven.  And the Bible  SR03 says if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ( RR_1_John_01:09 ) Oh, I thank God.  I thank God for the miracle of forgiveness.  The greatest miracle of all is the salvation of a soul.  As we were praying, Johnny, someone who has deafness in their right ear began to receive a healing.  There is a right ear that’s being healed right now.  You say, “Well, Richard, how do you know that?”  I know for God gave me a word of knowledge as I was leading that prayer.  Someone’s right ear is being healed right now.  Someone’s tumor on the left side of your stomach, the growth way down on the left side of your stomach, is being healed right now.  That cancer there in the cells on the left side, that thing is disappearing right now.  In the mighty name of Jesus I pray for you to be healed today in your body.  I speak to the sickness and the disease and I command it to come out of your life and I enter into a holy agreement with you for God to heal you and I will not turn loose of the agreement.

There is a person who has had a rib problem right here on the last, lowest rib on the right side, right here.  You are receiving a healing, you are receiving a healing. There is a person has not been able to raise your shoulder for weeks. I believe it’s your left shoulder.  It may be your right but I believe it’s your left. SPLR LINDSAY ROBERTS This lady called from Columbus, Ohio, and she said, “I don’t know exactly what was wrong with my arm but I could not raise my arm up and it progressively got worse to the point where I couldn’t even bend it at my elbow.  Richard gave a word of knowledge and now all the stiffness and the pain is absolutely gone.”  That’s from Columbus, Ohio.  And this lady called… this is so cute.  She said, “I have listened to Brother Oral Roberts for years and now I am listening to Richard too.” She said, “Years ago I had lockjaw and I nearly died, but God healed me through Brother Roberts.”  Now she said, “I thank God for your prayers.”  She said, “My doctor’s name was Dr. Roberts but the real doctor is Dr. Jesus,” and she said, “Praise God for all you good doctors on earth.”  (APPLAUSE)  I praise God for the doctors on earth trying to get them well, and let Dr. Jesus finish the job.

SPRR RICHARD ROBERTS Cheryl’s song is titled, “I Will Not Be Afraid,” and you remind me, Cheryl, as you’re getting ready to sing that we read a lot in the Bible of the commandments that Jesus gave, but perhaps the commandment that he gave the most often is, “Don’t be afraid.”  Are you aware of that?  He would say to his disciples all the time, “Don’t be afraid. Be not afraid.”

They needed a daddy who could hear their troubles and their problems and their burdens. They needed a daddy who could hold them in their arms when they came home from school and say, “I understand, but let’s find the answer and it’s in the words of God and in the words of Jesus.” And I was too busy trying to make a living out in the world, and I almost lost my family.  And I lost everything that I had.  And had a beautiful wife who continued to pray.  And in 1979 I faced 150 years on 30 counts of conspiracy to violate the control drug acts.  Went to the federal courtroom for two weeks, and it had been plastered all over the newspapers in Spartanburg and Greenville, South Carolina — I remembered calling up all my friends of the world, the doctors, and the lawyers and the politicians.  I tell this to young people on high school campuses and in churches — all over America — I found out we won’t have any friends out there in that world, not one of those friends would show up.  When your money runs out your friends run out.

When your drugs run out your friends run out.  When your sexual popularity runs out and you are used and misused and abused by the world your friends will run out and kick you aside and they want to marry a virgin.  I hope you keep your body cleansed for the temple of the Holy Ghost and marry that young man that is a Christian that loves Jesus Christ.  I found out the only friends I had, Richard, were Christian friends who would lift me to the throne of grace and pray for me.  (APPLAUSE)  High school quarterback, Dave Walton, he came into that courtroom one day and he sat down beside me — you know, there is a scripture in John 15 and 12, and I tried to memorize the Bible when I was in prison.  I found that Gideon Bible in a trash can and I read that David had hid the word in his heart that he might not sin against God.  And I want to be a man after God’s heart, I want to be broken bread and poured out wine for a lost and dying nation, that we might see revival in our high schools and junior highs, and in our nation, and we can do it through prayer and through the study of the Word.  And I had a high school friend that came in and one of his favorite scriptures was,  SM05 “Greater hath no man than this that he would lay down his life for a friend.” ( MS_John_15:13 ) That is what I see you and Brother Oral Roberts doing here, Oral Roberts University and throughout the world, as your mission outreach goes out with medical missionaries and doctors going into the foreign fields, (Yes) sharing love, medicine and prayer, and the touch of Jesus Christ, we still (Hallelujah) serve a Master (APPLAUSE) who can reach down from heaven and touch the cripple, and touch and heal that (Yes) drug addict or that alcoholic.  Dave Walton came in and sat down beside me.  He was a friend who had prayed for me for 12 years. And he put his arm around me that day in the courtroom and he said, “Don, I’ve come one share with you.”  And I said, “What is that, Dave?”  He said, “I’ve come to share that I love you just like a brother.  No matter what you’ve done I still love you, but Jesus loves you, Don, and you need Jesus where you are going.”  I said, “Dave, man, I can’t receive Jesus today, I’m a cocaine addict, I’m an alcoholic.”  I didn’t realize that Jesus would take us right where we are.
