Has God ever asked you to do something that you felt you couldn’t do? He has me! But if God calls you, He plans to help you, even if you’re in uncharted territory.
There was a time in my life when I was so quiet and timid that in public I was happy to sit still and not say two words. Then I married Richard Roberts and his television ministry! At first, I wasn’t on television with him. I sat in the audience. But I had to have a bucket next to me, because every time I even thought a camera was coming near me, I lost my lunch. Even when I finally did go on television, I shook so badly that I kept a bucket and a bottle of nausea medicine beside the chair at all times. And during every commercial break, I used them.
I felt that God had made a wrong choice. I didn’t think I could live the life He had called me to. But one day as I cried out to God for help, He said, “Lindsay, you didn’t call yourself to this life. I called you to it. Depend on Me.”
God never makes mistakes. He doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called. Even now, public speaking and being in front of the camera isn’t my favorite thing, but I know what God has called me to do, and I depend on Him. In Isaiah 41:10 God says, Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee. If God has called you to do something for Him, be obedient and give Him the glory. He will help you!
